I love curry. Nothing more to say then that really.

Well obviously there is, for example what am I blogging about. If you didnt guess from the title but its all about curry, indian curry at that.

And even more specifically the curry restaurants in Southall. For those that don't know Southall is to the west of London, close to Heathrow airport and it has a large indian population. And with this population comes a lot of curry restaurants.

I was first taken to Southall in 1989, to Rita's Restaurant on Regina Road. It cooked (and still does to this day) excellent Punjabi cuisine and I fell in love with the place. The place looks a lot different today from the single shop with paper table cloths it was on my first visit but the food is still excellent.

Since that first meal I have travelled quite extensively but if anyone were to ask what I miss about home the answer (amongst the obvious answer "family and friends") would be the Lamb Masala at Rita's.

In all this time obviously I knew there were other restaurants in Southall and I have found a second favorite - the Nagina - but I've never tried any of the other places.

So this blog will document that journey. According to google maps there are 39 other places to try. So it may take a while, perhaps I won't get to them all or there may be more to try but, as the great man once said, every journey starts with the desire to eat good curry.
